remembered once more

Thursday September 2, 2010

A few weeks ago I surrounded myself with the boxes of my life my parents had dropped off months earlier.

Preschool through 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th boxes all labeled accordingly.

All packed full of my memories, art, stories, papers, notes, worksheets, and projects.

Once I started getting into the middle school high school years I re-read every tightly folded triangle notes — all the boy crazy he said she said can you believe how boring math class is notes — and all the love letters and rough draft love letters never sent that I saved for myself.

My past literally in front of me with every page turn and every doodle on the side of my homework with every mistake and every right choice starring me in the face.

Unbelievably without-a-doubt exhausting AND overwhelming.

But in the end a huge weight lifted from my shoulders and it felt amazing.

I am so glad that I saved it all and had the chance to remember once more what it is like to be 13, 14, 15 and only care about your best girl friend, being silly ,and passing the next test, or winning the soccer game that Thursday. It sorta brings everything full circle, you know?

LIFE IS SO SILLY. And oh so beautiful and innocent.

It was truly a gift to have remembered once more.

So after 15 plus years I looked at it all again — and then, well, I recycled it.
