food evolution, it’s been a full year!

I’ve. Never. Felt. Better.

Never felt better!

Mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Without a DOUBT it is because of how I’ve changed and evolved with my food choices.

I used to wake up 3-5 times a night and feel like I never got a good night’s sleep. I am no longer a restless sleeper.

My lack of motivation and procrastinating tendencies were getting ridiculous. They are no longer an issue. I’m getting shit done and it feels great. I’ve never had this much energy.

I constantly battled with my skin. My acne has drastically improved and it still surprises me when I look in the mirror.

Very often I would be blindsided by a random 24 hour allergy attack and be in bed with a box of kleenex an entire day. These attacks have practically disappeared.

Headaches were my normal. Migraines, tension – you name it I had a headache. I would get them weekly. There has been a HUGE improvement and I am not in pain anymore.

Holy shit.


As a very happy side affect of feeling so much better, my body is thanking me.

Starting weight, April 2011: 139.9
Starting attitude: Depressed, lazy, and unhappy.

Current weight, April 2012: 124.9
Current attitude: Happy! Refreshed! Optimistic!

15 lbs GONE.

But more importantly – my unhealthy mind is also GONE and for that, I am so thankful.

With all of that said, please know that everything is not perfect. The changes I’ve made have worked for me – but it doesn’t mean I don’t have bad days, or procrastinate, or get a zit, or get a headache anymore.

But I can’t deny that there has been a drastic change in my everyday life – all for the better.

I never knew that I could feel this good.


  1. That’s awesome, Anne! What have you done to change the food in your life? I’d be interested in hearing the changes you made, especially since I suffer from the restless sleep and headaches you used to.

    Hi Erin!

    We made a big change last year when we started following a Slow Carb (4-hour body/Timothy Ferris) diet which eliminated carbs – grains, rice, pasta, flour, bread, dairy, sugar, and fruit. For every meal we had a protein, vegetable, and legume (beans). For six days a week, three meals a day we followed that plan – and on one day we got to eat whatever we wanted! Cupcakes, pizza, and pasta. The idea was to spike your caloric intake to kick you body into not saving and storing the fat. Plus a splurge day was awesome because we could indulge in our cravings and not feel like we were depriving ourselves.

    We were motivated to lose weight but what we didn’t realize was that our life would change in other important ways. By changing how we thought about food it changed how we felt about everything.

    After almost eight months we changed to a Paleo lifestyle — which still includes a protein, vegetable in every meal but we are able to enjoy berries and fruit. Still no dairy, grains, carbs, or sugar. With Paleo we don’t have a splurge day but it is totally fine because just that little amount of fruit sugar curbs any of those sweet cravings I had before.

    Paleo is awesome and there is so much to learn about which food actually benefits our bodies the most. We are still learning a lot but it is so worth it. I’ve never felt better!

    I sleep through the night!!! My headaches are not a constant problem as they once were. Honestly I’ve seen a huge improvement.
