things are heating up

If you ask me summer is officially here. We had a few ridiculously humid days a week ago that just about did me in.  I had to keep heading to the basement to cool myself down.

But today, well, today is gorgeous. It is hot – but not humid – with just the right amount of breeze to cool me off.

I have been keeping busy with the house and with work.  Here are a few photos of the new living room (new paint, a few pillows, a new rug, and switched up lighting). Photos of the bathroom (new paint) will be up soon. The house needed some tweaks to keep it fresh and the minor changes I have been making have really made a big difference.  Feels great!

Also, I have been meeting with couples and booking weddings for this season and for 2011!  It is so fun meeting new people, seriously, best part of the job for me.

Our garden was planted a few weeks ago and is already popping — the heat with a few days of rain was just the magic it needed — I can’t wait for summer basil and cherry tomatoes…yum!

Even more photos and videos to come soon — I have been playing around with my 5D Mark ll HD video — and I am realizing more and more that I have a very cool camera!

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!

it worked, cuz i’m here

Yup, that is me getting ice cream at 1:30 this afternoon at Izzy’s. What a life, right?!

This morning I kept getting tweets from Izzy’s Ice Cream about all their new flavors and…well, obviously it got into my head so I was off to get some ice cream after lunch.  Little did I know that Izzy’s had just launched a new site with all their new flavors being updated to Twitter by radio waves (WCCO’s full story with my quote! and a video clip).

I guess I was at the right place at the right time because I was basically the perfect interviewee for this news story!

They asked me a few questions and boom I am on TV.

I was totally freaking out because it felt like the camera was 6 inches from my face! Luckily you can’t really tell that my face turned bright red!

They didn’t tell me they were from the local news or that it was going to be on the news that night…so I just went about my day and didn’t think about it anymore. Luckily Mary called and said she just saw a clip of me on WCCO Channel 4 news — so, we quickly turned on the TV and Jake took this video with his iPhone.

We were laughing so hard I actually FELL on the floor!

thursday is cleaning day

Thursday May 6, 2010

If I’m being honest….the 10 boxes my parents dropped them off a few weeks ago are still in the porch waiting to be gone through (9th grade..10th grade, etc. yikes!)….the dishes haven’t been washed since I made cookies two days ago….and there are numerous dust bunnies behind the doors.

Thursday definitely needs to be cleaning day!

living and changing

Monday May 3, 2010

Sometimes you just need a little change and other times you need a BIG change. I am somewhere in-between little and BIG when it comes to our house, our yard, and ALL OF MY CLOTHES!

I started in the bedroom and the revamp felt awesome so I have started to move to the other rooms in the house…..Oh, and I went shopping at Anthropologie and well, bought way too many new dresses!

Here are the living and dining room before photos. Basically, our house is really dark most of the time (I know it might not look like it in these photos but trust me)!  The dark woodwork, dark sofa, dark rug, and dark brick wall of the fireplace (which blocks most of the light from the east) make it feel very dark in our house.  I really want it too feel lighter but haven’t figured out how to do this without buying a new sofa, rug, and revamping the brick!  I did buy some paint for the living room so hopefully we can start painting this week.  Check out the full set of photos here.

I have always said change is good.  So, what do you want to change in your life?
