This year I took the handmade pledge.
I pledge to give handmade gifts this holiday season! Online, local, or in my kitchen. I am giving it a go and I encourage you to do the same.

We decided to step it up this year with a Holiday party website. Jake loves clever domain’s, so we now “own” — canyamakeit.com
And of course, thebestsiteontheplanet.com – because, well, why not?!
Anyway, back to the invite – the ornament is personalized and allows you to RSVP from the site. You can even go back and change your mind!
Here is our little invitation poem:
It’s a holiday party, and you know the drill.
On treats and hot beefs you can soon get your fill.
You can sit by the fire, and have a good chat.
We’ve got Jake, we’ve got Anne, we’ve got Stacy or Matt.
Of course, our dog Judy will be there with us too.
Man, we’re sorry she just can’t stop jumping on you.
Now we hope ya can make it, it’s tradition ya know.
Help us put some more footprints down in the snow.
Jake drew all of the houses to scale from our block. Aren’t they so cute? That’s our house with the lights on! Didn’t realized how tiny our house was compared to our neighbors. Cute, but tiny.
We deleted one line from the poem because there wasn’t enough space, but I thought you might like to hear it -
This website sure was a great distraction,
while Anne and Jake’s businesses wait for some traction.
hahaha! I love it.

Roasted the pie pumpkin a few weeks ago.
Pureed and froze it in Ziplocs.
And today it is time. Time to bake my first pie from a real pumpkin.
Will keep you posted (via twitter — which you can find to the right :)
Update – Used these recipes for pie and for crust. So far so good – pie is baking in the oven!

I just found a Fruit Roll-up from 1995.
Did you get that? I said 1995!
Saving mementos from my past has just elevated to another level.
I found it on a Volleyball “team spirit” poster that most likely was taped to my locker by an upperclassmen. Apparently it was way too cool to eat.
In 1995.
Now, almost 15 years later I find it at the bottom of a box shared with newspaper clippings, report cards, and homecoming programs.
I decided it deserved to be opened after all these years.
What resulted was a perfectly preserved Fruit Roll-up smelling deliciously of strawberries. It looks and smells exactly the same as it did when I used to wrap them around my finger and eat them for snacks.
In 1995.

Now the questions is — should I eat it?
In 2009?
